The Santa Clarita Film Office encourages all productions to be environmentally conscious when filming in Santa Clarita.
Below are some tips and resources to minimize your production’s environmental impact and help keep Santa Clarita green.

- Use recycling bins and compost bins in addition to garbage bins
- Provide reusable bottles, plates, and cutlery or use biodegradable plates and cups
- Avoid Styrofoam and plastic

- Cater and eat local

- Use low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paints and sealants with a Green Seal certification
- Use recycled paints and use leftover paint as primer on new sets
- Recycle or properly dispose of leftover paint > Learn more about disposal of hazardous items

- Stock chlorine-free toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues
- Use cleaning agents low in VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compound)
- Stock paper productions with post-consumer recycled content
- Set printing any copying devices to default to double sided printing
- Use recycling bins and compost bins in addition to garbage bins
- Purchase bulk snacks in of individually wrapped snacks
- Use a water cooler and reusable cups in place of bottled water
- Institute an “office mug” policy instead of providing disposable cups
Transportation

- When available, carpool to basecamp or set
- Turn off gas engines instead of idling
- When needed, provide local accommodations near set
- Utilize electric, hybrid, or natural gas vehicles where available
If you plan to use temporary bin and roll-off box services (vs self-hauling) you will need to use one of the franchised trash haulers on this list.
